2023 Cyber Special Activities

December 30, 2022

Four Cyber Academy NCSA/CSAs have been posted to ncsas.com and eServices.

There are a lot of opportunities for cadets to engage with cyber security activities this summer. Our newest campus is the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. The activity dates are 19 June through 29 June. This activity is longer than the 1 week that we have at the other venues which will allow for extra learning. Two courses will be offered at this activity. Cyberspace Advanced Administration Course (CAAC) and the Cyberspace Networking Course (CNC). For the CAAC, cadets are required to have participated in CyberPatriot for at least 2 years and have at least 1 year on a Platinum Tier team. This course will cover more advanced administration and security of Linux systems and Windows servers. Cadets will be using virtual machines in the cloud for their lab work and graduation exercise. Additional Cisco Network Academy classes will be required as a prerequisite. The CNC, cadets will be learning more advanced networking concepts and will be using physical hardware at the event to configure their network environments. Cadets must have previously attended a Cyber NCSA/CSA event to attend the CNC and space is very limited for this course.

There are two campus events happening for 24 June through 1 July. Cadets can attend the CAP National Cyber Academy at Hampton Roads, VA or the Great Lakes Cybersecurity Academy in Big Rapids, MI. Hampton Roads will have the CNC course along with the Cyberspace Operations Fundamentals Course (COFC) where you will learn from Air Force cyber professionals on certain aspects of their day to day jobs. Linux knowledge is paramount for this course. The Great Lakes campus has three courses, Networking, Systems, and Internet of Things. You can see their web site at https://glr.cap.gov/events/glr-cybersecurity-academy

Finally, we have our San Antonio campus that will hold the COFC and CNC courses the week of 23 July through 29 July. Cadet participants, Cadet Staff and Senior Staff are all welcome to apply to any of these courses for which you are qualified. You can see the web site ncsas.com for these courses and all the other courses that are being held this summer. The registration for all these courses is via the eServices Registration and Payment system. The deadline for applications will be 15 January 2023 for an "on time" application to have the best shot at being selected for one of these events.

Scholarships are available through the CadetInvest web site at https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/programs/cadets/cadetinvest The deadline for the scholarship and financial assistance application is noon CST on 31 December 2022.
